I’m a cookbook-reading, pastry-eating, endlessly-snacking recipe collector, and on good days a writer (and maybe a cook.) The past few years have taken me from Idaho to Indonesia to Florida to Vancouver BC, finally settling in Seattle with a love of fried rice, Cuban black beans, sushi, and grimy taco trucks picked up along the way.
Once upon a time I wanted to be a chef, but some kitchen time killed that right quick and I’ve found my true home on the other side of the swinging door, hungrily eating and excitedly writing. I’m part of a boutique lifestyle PR agency in Seattle where we work primarily with restaurants and chefs, and I do as much freelance writing (about things both edible and non) on the side as I can.
A selection of published work (and a full resume) can be found here, on my portfolio site.
Great site, Anne! Keep it up and one day soon you’ll be writing for Saveur! And I mean it.
Ah, delicious adventures. Keep exploring, and keep us updated!
Fantastic.
Hi Anne. Looks like we are paired up for Adopt a Blogger, and I’m looking forward to working you! Send me an email so we can get started.
hi
i came to your blog via my dear friend kate. i think you are a terrific writer. keep on blogging.
Anne! I love reading your blog and the last latest posting made me cry. Love you, K
Hi Anne – so random, but I am a Moscowvite who stumbled upon your blog via foodgawker! I really love the look and feel of your site. It’s so great to know there are other food-lovin’ people here in Moscow. 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying summer! (sooo excited for Farmer’s Market tomorrow, myself!)
Cheers,
Elise
Viva Muscovite foodies!! 🙂
Hey! Just stumbled on your site from someone posting an article you just did about NY Johnny’s dogs in Moscow. I actually just started training with him last week, and I’ll be running the cart in the next few weeks! I’m 25 and from Minneapolis where I trained and worked as a chef. The lifestyle got to me, you know, 70-80 hour work weeks. I was offered a job out here in Moscow and made the tough decision to leave the industry. Been here about a year, but totally missing the kitchen. Anyway, went back and read a bunch of your posts and really enjoy your writing. Shoot me an email sometime, I’d love to nerd out on food with ya! Keep writing!
I bet you get all the hot dogs you could ever want… Jealous! Very cool on the chef front. And very understandable on the needing a break front. 80 hours sounds BRUTAL. Minneapolis is rad though, my aunt has been trying to convince me to move there. Read about a giant Hmong market in Mpls, very intrigued! I will do on the e-mail, go food nerds!! And thanks for the nice comment.
Hey Anna Cotta! Great stuff – wouldn’t expect anything less. Hope you swing by for a visit next time through McCall. My favorite for the “what did you eat last summer?” essay – fresh, humble, elegant, corn tortillas! Satisfying squash of fresh masa in the press, a little toasting, followed by steaming on the counter in a ktichen towel whilst squashing and toasting the next one – and then the hunt for delicious fillers…
Great Blog! 😀
Delighted to meet you today at my stealth bar-b-q gig in G.Wiz. And I LOVE your blog, Anna (read: “I love what you write about, and how you write about it”
Keep up the good work, and bon appetit, kiddo.
Yours in smoke and spice,
Nancy
Thanks Nancy!! And thanks for the ROCKIN pulled pork. You’ll see me again soon… gotta get me s’more bbq! And stay in touch about restaurant happenings, I’d love love love to be involved! (it’d be the coolest learning experience ever for me. …plus I’m excited the possibility of gleaning some of your bbq wisdom… 🙂 )

“will work for artisan chz”
Anne, since last Friday things have gotten solidified and I’m delighted to tell you I AM opening in a permanent place soon! Downtown, corner of Pineapple and Ringling — former Panini Press space. Hoping to be open before Thanksgiving.
Nice work, keep cookin! Chef Eric
Hey Annie, it’s Tyler your cousin-in-law (something like that I think) through Uncle Ross. I heard you were blogging your way around the world; looks like you’re also eating/cooking your way through it. The Luzuriagas would definitely approve!
So, Lovely Anne… I have now frequented your blog more than once and absolutely adore it every time. I so agree with your meal-centered days and am so very jealous of your writing talent. I swear I get hungry and inspired every time I read. I look forward to returning often to see what you have stumbled upon each and every post! Oh yes, and gorgeous photos complement the site wonderfully! Happy tasting 🙂
